In preparation for the opening of the new Backcountry Visitors Center at the historic Santa Ysabel General Store, the Volcan Mountain Foundation’s Education-Outreach program, received a wonderful day-long training program led by longtime VMF friend, Mary Aldern held on Saturday, September 8th at the Pinto Ranch Retreat Center in San Felipe.
On May 12th at Pinto Ranch a group of 15 teachers and students gathered to attend a beginners' tracking class through the San Diego Tracking Team. Gary, Rick and Fred led the group through a series of informative tracking slides, demonstrations of various gaits, and "dirt time" exploration.
The Volcan Mountain Foundation (VMF) is incredibly grateful to have support from a wide range of community partners. In January, when VMF needed to establish their own collection of tools to support student and community-based stewardship projects on Volcan Mountain, Ransom Brothers Hardware & Lumber Supply Co.
